• What we'll do
Its time for the January Open Meeting of the Alamance Makers Guild!

This month our special topic/guest speaker is all about new work to launch the new Triangle Learning Network with Danianne Mizzy. The Triangle Learning Network (which will include Alamance County) is a project being spearheaded through the Kenan Science Library at UNC Chapel Hill to create a network of learning resources all across the region. This new network will be for formal and informal learning opportunities, makerspaces, libraries, schools, community colleges, universities, businesses, and individuals who provide learning of any kind. The Triangle Area Learning Network is based upon Pittsburgh's "Remake Learning Network" which was facilitated by "The Sprout Fund", both are organizations we've worked with in the past through some of our Nation of Makers visits to the White House. This new Learning Network will be a great resource for our community.

As always, AMG Open Meetings are free, fun, and family friendly. We are open to anyone including teens and accompanied older children. Please share our events (we grow by word of mouth) and please RSVP via our meetup or facebook event page(s). Thank you for supporting the Maker Movement in Alamance County. Our meetings are free and open but if you are able and choose to do so you can support the Alamance Makers Guild and Maker Faire Burlington through your $36/Year membership or through other donations. NOTE: Danianne will be at STEAM Junction from 3:30pm to 5:00pm this same day for a meeting and discussion with local educators and representatives from educational institutions. If you or your organization would like to be involved in that discussion please RSVP via its eventbrite page (link can be found through the STEAM Junction Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/STEAMJunction) Thanks and we hope to see as many of you this January as possible!

• What to bring
Feel free to bring items for Show-N-Tell (projects in any state, new ideas, finished products, and everything in between). Too big to bring in, feel free to bring photos or video (just let us know in advance so we can queue you up on the projector). Other than that just bring an open mind and lots of questions!

• Important to know
Our event will start at 7:00pm with news and club business starting promptly at 7:05pm. Please plan to arrive at 7:00pm or before. We will always do our best to make sure our main speaker can speak as early in the evening as possible, but we understand if folks traveling, on an early morning schedule, or with younger kids need to leave early. Please respect our speaker(s) and arrive early!
