This is a joint meetup hosted by the Triangle.rb group. Please RSVP at:

---

This Meetup will be a little different than our usual format. Instead of a formal talk, two developers will live-code a basic command-line application. The applications will function identically with one important difference: one will be coded in Ruby and the other will be coded in Clojure. The goal is to demonstrate the different development styles between the Ruby and Clojure programming languages. Each live-coding session will last 25 minutes with a brief Q/A taking place afterwards for group discussion.

Coders

Brandon Mathis
Brandon has been a Ruby coder for well over 10 years and is the Director of Technology at Smashing Boxes. He loves long walks on the beach and fast-running test suites.

Jeff Terrell
Jeff Terrell has been programming professionally for 15 years. His programming journey includes C, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, and Clojure. He got his Ph.D. in computer science from UNC in 2009. He loves the good design, practical elegance, and immutable data structures of Clojure, which he has been using, mostly full-time, for about 5 years. He is currently a software craftsman at RoleModel Software in Holly Springs.

Application Details

The application Jeff and Brandon will be building will connect to the Github API to calculate the top 10 contributors to any given github repository.

This will be a collaborative Meetup between the Clojure and Triangle.rb meetups so RSVP fast because our list will fill up quickly! We look forward to seeing everyone there!
