Please join us for West End Ruby Hack Night! As usual, we will do a code exercise, applicable to all Ruby skill levels.

Rough schedule:
6:30 - 6:45: Introduce ourselves, chat, and eat pizza
6:45 - 8:00: Work on an exercise
8:00 - 8:30: Present your solutions to the group and discuss the exercise

What is hack night?

Hack night is an evening of friendly problem-solving in Ruby for programmers of all skill levels. The night revolves around one or two programming exercises. You are welcome to code alone, pair up with a friend, or meet someone new!

How to prepare

We encourage participants to bring a laptop with them, but this is not a requirement! Leaving your computer at home is a great excuse to practice pair programming.

Many of the exercises we choose come from the excellent Exercism (http://exercism.io) Web site. They have a pretty cool command-line interface that makes getting exercises a breeze. Check it out!

We'll post the exercise shortly before the Meetup starts here and on the Triangle Dev Slack #westendruby channel (http://www.triangledevslack.com/).

For Ruby and programming newcomers

Welcome! We're so glad you're here! Hack nights are the perfect time to get you set up to learn how to program. If you could, please send a message to the event organizers to let us know.

Recruiters are welcome to join us provided they stay and code with us too!

Any questions?

Just ask! You can contact Eric Tillberg through this Meetup page or on the Triangle Dev Slack.
